God gave His Spirit to empower your church

• • Equips for His dynamic power

God has given your church a strategic place and purpose

• • stop wishing "if you only had..."

God has gifted your church with you

• • influence people for God's Kingdom

God has gifted you with His continual presence

• • the encouragement we all need

Episode 90: Breaking Tradition

Quick to form, slow to end Examples: Valentines Banquet   Embrace or discontinue them? Is it a Biblical or theological matter? Does it adhere to your church's mission? Do people know the story behind the tradition?   A source of conflict when getting rid of them Know tradition form deep emotional ties for people. know those who have no attachment truly have no attachment. The leader has to balance the two sides. emphasize your mission. replacing is easier than eliminating. new traditions need a new story.

Past  - clean up on aisle 9 Evaluate your past decisions  Take a good look at all parts of your finances cash flow debt savings Present - How do you make financial decisions? Think long term  Don't react in the short term Make decisions based on your 70 year old self "How would my 70 year old self make this decision?" Future - is Retirement in the bag - or will you be living out of one? What is your current retirement savings looking? What could you withdraw monthly and how long would it last?   What are you planning to do? When are you planning to do it? What would you love to do?   -Don't plan to retire from ministry - just change venues -Prepare to minister without having to be paid so you can be a huge blessing to someone ----            Somewhere who can't afford you

The importance of an online presence isn’t going anywhere If you don’t have an online presence, you are not going to thrive in the future Is online attendance really church attendance Why no? Theological concerns - the church is a gathered body Practical concerns - how do you disciple? Logistical concerns - how do you track and monitor? Why yes? Theological reasons - for such a time as this Practical reasons - generations are shifting to more virtual gatherings Logistical reasons - can spread gospel influence. Takeaways If we connect people in incremental steps, this can be a valuable step in the process. Don’t diminish the value of your online attendees. You can add people you would otherwise miss. Remember:   People will watch before they visit...how you connect online will help determine if they choose to connect.

• Exegete your people as well as the Bible
• Ignoring the events around us in this time is irresponsible.
• Do your best to encourage and bring comfort and hope
• remind your folks that there are others - Elijah needed that reminder - you're not the only ones
